Jazz De Opus
 Portland, Oregon
with Eric Brooks
. . . . . .

Getting our mojo working at Jazz De Opus
a
We had such a wonderful time in Portland at Jazz De Opus, Eric Brooks joined us on the saxophone and the lad kicked major ass. We would like thank the staff at Jazz De Opus who took such great care of us, and our hats go off to Gus Haddad for being the consumate host. The crowd was incredible staying until the wee hours of the morning.
It was great to meet so many new friends and reunite with family and old friends like Kirk Botero, Allen Peterson, and Tim Hunter. Kirk was kind enough to let us just move in and have our way with his place while we were in town, friends like that are keepers. Thanks Kirk!

Paying homage to the king
at the Church of Elvis

a

Craig and I took time out to pay homage to the king at the Church of Elvis in downtown Portland (we butchered "Don't Be Cruel" all the way to the coast). Checked out the incredible Powells bookstore and of course imbibed in the local microbrews.
Then we jumped in the car and pointed it west for a quick trip to the coast and landed in Cannon Beach, a quaint seaside village very reminisient of Carmel on a smaller scale, quite delightful. Our brief stay was all the more wonderful due to our good fortune of stumbling onto an excellent restaurant named "Kalypso" where the chef personally came out and designed a vegetarian meal for Craig while I enjoyed the seafood special of the evening (hey, when you live inland you get fresh seafood whenever you can).

Home at the Senic Surf

a

Our good fortune did not end there. We stumbled onto a great little place to stay right on the beach. Our hosts were third generation owners Jimmy and Michelle Webb. If you are ever in the neighborhood I would highly recommend Webb's Scenic Surfside, they'll take great care of you. Visit their web site at : http://www.at-e.com/webbsurf/
